Events

We conceive, curate and organize conferences, workshops, camps and meetings. Our various interactive event formats bring people together to collectively contemplate and develop new outlooks. We put on both our own events, such as Berlin Buzzwords and Torstraßen Festival, as well as putting on projects for our clients and partners.

We offer everything necessary for a successful event, either as a complete package or as an individual service: sponsor acquisition, speaker management, volunteer management, location scouting, marketing and PR, social media, online and live communication, on-site event production as well as comprehensive documentation. In cooperation with our IT team we create event websites and use a specially developed conference system for them.

Berlin Buzzwords

Berlin Buzzwords is Germany's most exciting conference on storing, processing, streaming and searching large amounts of digital data and has been held once a year in Berlin since 2010. Berlin Buzzwords is a conference focused on open source software projects in the field of big data analysis, scalability, storage and searchability. It provides a platform for developers, engineers, IT architects, analysts and data scientists who are interested in information retrieval, the searchability of large amounts of data, NoSQL and big data processing. Previous Berlin Buzzwords' presentations focused on Apache Spark, Flink, Kylin, Cassandra, Lucene, HBase, Kafka, Solr, Hadoop, Samza, Mahout, Elasticsearch, MongoDB and many more.

Although the focus is on the technical aspects, we also deal with the societal aspects of Big Data. The most important recent technological developments have been data-based. With the sharp increase in the collection of data and the growing prevalance of digital networks the responsibility of developers and companies is also increasing.

Torstraßenfestival

Torstraßen Festival is a music festival, and it is also a festival about community, the various scenes the city breeds as well as the neighborhood we call home. Starting out as a matinée one day festival in 2011, over the years TSF has turned into a three day event that takes a current look into the local and international music scenes and encourages: community, discovery, and diversity.

Summer 2018 will see the first FOSS Backstage, a conference on building and managing open source communities. The focus here is not on code and technology, but on management and the question of how Free Software and Open Source can be successfully, and above all sustainably, organized and used.

FOSS Backstage will provide a space to discuss a broad spectrum of issues related to community management, vendor neutrality and leading projects without discretionary power. Conference topics will include: open source project leadership best practices, community management, open source project metrics, open source strategy for enterprise, adopting open source collaboration in corporations, legal matters when dealing with open source, and many more.

With a focus on decentralised decision making and open collaboration FOSS Backstage will be a great place for: developers, architects, sysadmins, community leaders, students and anyone interested in building and managing communities within the open source space, to get together and exchange ideas.
